The Art of Presence in the Therapeutic Encounter and in Mental Health

forest-bridge-ipad-wallpaper-ilikewallpaper_comThe state of presence in the therapeutic encounter is, perhaps, the greatest gift a clinician or any person can give to another who is pained.  Historically established that theoretical knowledge, practice, and overt self awareness are paramount for the liaison between clinician and recipient  to be meaningful, the state of compassionate presence, is not as discussed in the literature nor in the academic setting.  It is the state and the art of presence that establishes a relationship with another soul and the connection to plant the seed of empowerment, hope, courage, and humanness for the pained other  and clinician to grow.

The journey within these posts is to find a medium and a platform  for the clinician to incorporate the state of presence within the current reductionistic medical model, thus, to be a compassionate catalyst of empowerment for the pained other. Each of the posts as different as they may seem are interrelated and do not stand alone without the other.  However, it is up to you, the reader, to determine how to navigate the site and what to take in and what to leave out.

So, sit back, relax,  and enjoy this journey with me in exploring the art of presence.
